Conservative. Committed. Experienced.

Mike Bayham was born and raised in Louisiana, and has been a lifelong resident of Chalmette. His roots in St Bernard parish run deep, and he fondly remembers playing football and baseball in our parish park system (Versailles and Borgnemouth) in his youth. He is a graduate of Holy Cross High School (Lower 9th Ward Campus) and Louisiana State University (BA w/journalism, political science, and history minors).

At age 26, he became the youngest councilman ever elected (at the time) in St Bernard Parish. He represented District B from 2001-2004.

Mike has been a passionate conservative Republican his entire life. In 1996, he was first elected to the Republican State Central Committee where he has served ever since. He served on the Executive Committee as Secretary from 2008-2012. Mike also served as a presidential elector in the Electoral College in 2008 and 2012.

He has served the state of Louisiana as a member of the Battle of New Orleans Bicentennial Commission and the Louisiana State “America 250” Commission (Interim Chairman). He worked as a legislative aide in the Louisiana State Senate and in the Louisiana Department of Revenue, Department of Public Affairs.

But his commitment to St Bernard Parish has always been his top priority. He served on the St. Bernard Parish Fisheries Task Force and is a member of St. Bernard Parish Board of Elections. He has also served as: Chairman of the St. Bernard Parish Flag Redesign Committee (2002), Founder of Battle of New Orleans Reenactment, Chairman of the St. Bernard Katrina 10 Year Anniversary Committee, member of Los Isleños Cultural and Historic Society, member of Knights of Columbus Council 5747, member of St. Bernard Parish Veterans Day Committee, coordinator of the first ever household product recycling day in St. Bernard to reduce pollutants in our environment.

Mike is the proud grandson of Mickey and Yvette Bayham and Albert and Shirley Gomez, and son of Michael and Kathy (Gomez) Bayham. He is a parishioner of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church.
